Taking care to plan your inspections is a great way to improve your Cote Qualité GCR!
For more information about our planning inspections, watch this video:
The Cote Qualité GCR is evaluated based on financial ratios (40%), customer satisfaction (10%) and the quality of buildings constructed (50%).
The technical rating draws largely on site inspections. This is why it is important to collaborate when it comes time to plan your inspections.
The inspection planning is based on the dates you’ve listed in the Zone GCR on your Registration Form. To the extent possible, these dates must be as representative as possible of the progress of your work. In order to ensure better planning of inspections, here are the most important dates to provide to us: the expected delivery date, the “start of work” date and the “end of work” date.
These respectively stand for:
Dates to be provided | Complete work | Partial work |
Start of work | Excavation | Start of mandate (arrival on the project) |
End of work | Ready for: pre-acceptance inspection or end of work notice | End of mandate (ready for pre-acceptance inspection) |
Expected delivery | Date generally known in preliminary contract
Not applicable in business contract |
Not applicable |
When the start of work date isn’t known, it is important to provide a reminder date for inspection planning. The reminder date represents an approximate date on which GCR will contact you to confirm the start of work date and schedule its inspections. This is a good practice to avoid oversights!
If these dates change significantly during the construction of the project, it is important to update them in the Zone GCR.
When assigning your cote qualité GCR, a target percentage per type of inspection is linked to each rating, thus:
Cote Qualité GCR | 360° inspection | Targeted inspection |
AA | 20 % | 80 % |
A | 30 % | 70 % |
B | 40 % | 60 % |
C | 60 % | 40 % |
D | 100 % | 0 % |
N | 100 % | 0 % |
The calculation above does not take into account certain rules that can affect planning. If required, GCR can exceed the minimum planned inspection target for a variety of reasons.
You can get all of the information you need regarding your inspections by contacting one of our planning employees, who are aware of your prior and upcoming inspections, as well as of the factors that need to be considered before planning an inspection.

Inspections can be conducted at any one of the five steps identified below. Each step represents a level of progress made on the work and, for each one of them, a value is established based on elements that can be observed based on risk management and the progress made.
Values assigned based on the state of progress of the work | ||
Progress | Inspection value | Elements to be verified |
Foundation | 0,5 | Before backfilling |
Frame | 1,0 | Before installing doors and windows |
Water and air tighness | 1,5 | Before installing drywall |
Exterior finish | 1,5 | Before building the front installation |
Interior finish | 1,0 | Ceramics, floors, cabinets, trim |
In order for a contractor to be assigned a Cote Qualité GCR, it must have been subject to inspections totalling 3.0 points on different buildings.
